What products might work for really coarse, thick, dry natural hair?

I have really coarse, thick, dry natural hair. My hairdresser has used the conditioning packet in Texture and Tones hair color, which seems to work. But it could be that I got my hair professionally done too.

I have tried Miss Jessie's Buttercreme--didn't work. Hollywood Beauty Creme--works for about a day then is really thick build-up. Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil conditioning packet--works a day then my hair's dry again. Coconut oil--works for a few hours. Jojoba oil--mix w/other oils and works for a few hours. I've even used pure glycerin mixed with water. That works for about a day too.

Maybe my hair can only be coarse and rough to the touch. But I'm hoping there's something I can use to make it feel softer. I wash my hair almost every 1 1/2 weeks then condition it (use a shower cap for an hour) and wash the conditioner out. Then I twist my hair and wrap it up. When I take the twists out, my hair becomes dry within a day or two. What can I do? Thanks!

Use hot oil treatments once a month. That helps great. Also, use Olive Oil brand products worked well for me when I was natural. Also, try using a texturizer. It really makes hair more manageable. Oil sheen helps too.

Make sure you are wrapping your hair with a silk scarf/cap or using a silk pillow case. This is helped my drying problems tremendously. I also like Kinky Curls products which are all natural and are reactivated by applying water instead of more product. www.kinky-curly.com Report It
