I have thick hair and I use gel on a daily basis. I have found that American Crew Gel works really well. If you buy other cheaper brands (Suave, Dep or LA Looks) they tend to flake after it dries. But I don't se that with American Crew. I costs about 10 bucks a bottle and it will last me about a month, I get mine at Sports Clips. Hope this helps.

have u tried l'oreal studio indestructible? it comes in a black tube, available from boots, chemists, supermarkets etc.

i have very thick hair, and this holds it perfect all night.
