My Hair Is Not As Thick Anymore. =(?

Hello,

I am 24 years old. I have always had really thick long curly hair but about a year ago it started to fall off every time I rinse my conditioner out. I used to use Dove but have stopped and now I am using the Chi products. I have been taking biotin and using indian hair oils like amla but nothing seems to be working. It's really visible that my hair is not as thick as it used to be. I'm really nervous and sad about this. If anyone can help through suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank You.

You need to look at several factors. 1-Have you been stressed out. 2- Have you been drinking water since you are getting a little older. 3- What products have you been using on your hair. 4- If you have moved the water harshness coming out of your faucet maybe damaging.

1- Stress is a killer. It can change your weight, Health and even your hair.

2- Drinking water cleanses out your system nd even though you are 24 there are certain thing s that you need to take care of now that you didn't 10 years ago.

3-The products you use on your hair defiantly will be a cause. You said you have curly hair maybe a type 3 or 4 hair. You have to be careful when using petroleum based products. Try to use water based or glycerin based. Also clip your dead ends and comb my your hair from the bottom to the scalp to decrease breakage.

4- The water coming out of your faucet can damage your hair if you live in a house try to soften you water at the source...the water heater.

May seem like alot of info, but do some research. Talk to several hair care specialist...not stylist!!!! Don't stress that will make it worst. Good luck!!!!!!!

Some reasons that your hair is falling out is if you swam in a lake or pond or even in the ocean. It might have some chemicals that affect your hair. Go to a beauty parlor and ask for hair extentions if you want long curly hair.

You didnt say if you were using hair color or anythign but assuming that you arent here is what I do.....my hair is long AND thick...Evey time I perm my hair I mix mayonnaise and 2 eggs and use as a hair treatment----pretty much because I HATE the look of just permed super straight hair ( I know I am weird) but it works. I also take hair, skin and nails multi vitamin from gnc.they smell terrible but they work wonders. you can look at my myspace page pics www.myspace.com/sexceekemee Good luck

Hmm, maybe the conditioner caused it? Well don't shave it off, try different projects and see which works best. It may get thick again, but maybe not. Don't be nervous or sad, it's okay!

this could be due to stress. have you been stress out lately? stay away from thickener shampoos, the will only make the hair appear thicker. try the nioxin shampoos and products. nioxin if formulated to regrow hair and improve the condition of the hair. go to your local salon and they should have it. use the entire supply (both bottles) that you buy and you should start to see less hair falling out, improved appearance, and soon it will start to regrow itself. but it won't happen over night, so give the product a chance. plus if you buy it at a salon and do not like it, you can return it for the full amount you paid for it.

I had this thing called alopecia where my hair thinned out so i went to the dermatologist and got ingections

also stressing about it doesn't help either

and sometimes there is nothing you can do about it because hair goes through cycles where you shed a lot and this could go on for many years or just a short period of time and then go back to normal

Hi. I had the same experience starting a couple of years ago. It got so bad that I ended up with a 2 inch by 2 inch BALD spot right on top of my head, right behind the forehead, a most conspicuous spot.

Along with this severe hair thinning, I also noticed my scalp was uncomfortable. After reading here and there on the web, I decided to switch to Aubrey Organics shampoos... by the time I finished the first bottle, my bald spot grew back in and my thinning stopped. While my hair is by no means as thick as it once was (but I am a lot older than you are), it's okay now and no more BALDNESS anywhere.

I think you can pick any formula of Aubrey that appeals to you and is suited to your hair type. Be prepared for less foam and less than a feeling of squeaky cleanness. Your hair will be clean, but realize that the commercial product's foam abundance relied on powerful surfactants that are most likely damaging your scalp by stripping fat right out of your scalp's cell walls, leaving your scalp too weak to grow healthy hair as it was busy repairing itself. Anyway, that's the fancy theory I've devised for why this stuff worked so well. I read some testimonials websites where other women said this shampoo had saved their hair and it worked for me, and I think this is the reason.

A cheaper alternative or for a change: use Dr Bronner's liquid castile soap as a shampoo. It will leave a film which you them removed by a quick rinse with a weak apple cider vinegar rinse. It's cool to feel the immediate silkening of hair as you pour the vinegar solution (weak--a tablespoon or so to a pint of water). In the summer, I don't even use conditioner after this.

I hope this works for you. There's no more awful feeling than watching your hair go, go, go. But no matter what the reason for your hair loss, it can only do you good to treat your scalp with kid gloves and never abuse it... it's the base of hair after all!
