I was in your shoes back in high school like nineth grade. I wish I never would have done the blonde streaks because one its horrible for your hair and its a pain to keep up. The layers would be good. Do that first, I think you will like it better then the highlights the maintance is really a pain and is pricey.

I would go with auburn highlights, it looks better, and more real on darker hair colors.

OMG!!! I have dark, curly hair %26amp; got light blonde streaks in my hair, and have layers!!! Here's some advice: When I got my highlights, it really made my hair dry out, but that was only because my hair is curly, and curly and wavy hair is always somewhat dry. So, I would suggest that if you have curly hair, don't get highlights, or just make sure that the brand you use does'nt have ammonia or any other damaging products. Also, condition your hair really well for the next week. And about the layers, they work really well for my hair, because it helps my curls lay a bit more flatly on my head, and the layers help my curls look more natural. So, again, it really matters if you have curly hair, or dry hair. Good luck!
