make sure you have some straighteners that heat up to 200 degrees +. these are the only ones that make your hair stay straight. there are also a lot of good hair products out there that aren't very expensive. i wouldn't recommened getting your hair chemically straightened because it can be expensive, and when your hair starts to grow, the roots will start going frizzy!

Not sure how you are blowdrying your hair. You should blowdry your hair piece by piece with a flat brush or round brush if you want more body and volume. Have it relaxed. Best to have it done by a professional (it is pretty much the opposite of a perm), because it is easy to fry your hair with a home relaxer kit.

Put a Relaxer in it! You can get one at any Pharmacy or Store like Walmart, Target etc. Just use one that doesn't have any Lye in it. Lye damages the hair. Hope that helps!

Instead of your normal flat iron, try using an actual iron (yes for clothes). Not only does it make your hair straight and silky sleek, but it also takes away the frizz. Use a towel on the other side of the iron and straighten downwards. It works perfectly.

i have thick and curly hair too. i found that the pantene sleek and smooth line works really well. you just use the shampoo and conditioner as normal, then towel dry and comb. smooth in the straightening cream and blow dry or air dry. once your hair is dry use a ceramic flat iron in small sections at a time. add some shine serum and your done.

I would recommend that after you wash your hair, you use a straightening balm. Then blow dry your hair in sections using a paddle brush and also make sure you use a nozzle so you don't get flyaways while blow drying your hair. Purchase yourself a ceramic straightening iron. It straightens even the thickest hair! I just ordered one from overstock.com 2 weeks ago and it works wonders!!! It even works on damp hair but always use a heat protectant!

2 ways i know work, done them myself. the easiest way is to get a hot flat iron from walmart or beauty supply store. spray each section of hair with hairspray and then smooth with flat iron, will last until next shampooing. the other way is to get a home perm and use the solution on your hair them comb hair stick straight and sit still for 20 minutes the rinse and go to step 2 the netralizer and do the same procedure for 10 min, rinse shampoo style with blowdryer will last about 6 months. ( have someone help you)

There is a flatiron called the Chi. It's made with a mineral called tourmaline embedded in the plates. It's expensive, but I have heard that it straightens hair extrememly well. Many Black hairdressers seem to swear by these.
My hair puffs up too. I haven't bought the flatiron yet but when I get some extra change I will look into it.
